Complete Recipe for Grilled BBQ Ribs

Ingredients:

  • 2 racks of pork ribs
  • 1 cup of barbecue sauce (you can use your favorite or make a homemade one)
  • 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of paprika
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon of onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon of chili powder (optional, for a spicy kick)
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the ribs:
  • Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs. Use a small knife to loosen it, then pull it off with your fingers or a paper towel to avoid slipping.
  • In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and chili powder (if using).
  • Generously rub this spice mixture on both sides of the ribs. For better flavor, you can let the ribs rest in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour or even overnight.
  1. Preheat the grill:
  • Prepare your grill for indirect cooking, meaning the heat should not be directly under the ribs. If using a charcoal grill, place the coals on one side. If using a gas grill, only turn on the burners on one side.
  • Set the grill to a low temperature, around 250-275°F (120-135°C).
  1. Cook the ribs:
  • Place the ribs on the grill with the bone side down, on the indirect heat side.
  • Close the lid and let the ribs cook slowly for 2.5 to 3 hours. During this time, the ribs will become tender and absorb the smoky flavor.
  • Check the ribs every 30-45 minutes to ensure the temperature remains consistent.
  1. Add the BBQ sauce:
  • In the last 30-45 minutes of cooking, brush the ribs with a generous layer of barbecue sauce on both sides. This will create a sweet and sticky glaze.
  • Let the sauce caramelize on the grill, making sure it doesn’t burn. You can add more sauce if desired.
  1. Rest and serve:
  • Once the ribs are done (the meat should be tender and easily pull away from the bone), remove them from the grill.
  • Let them rest for about 10 minutes before cutting. This will allow the juices to redistribute within the meat.
  • Serve the ribs with extra barbecue sauce on the side if desired.

Enjoy these juicy grilled ribs with a smoky flavor and sweet caramelized glaze! Perfect for an outdoor meal or a backyard barbecue.
